The first 10 ordinal numbers have their specific form but after the them every cardinal number is formed in this way:
You have to bring the cardinal number associated with that number and you have to drop the las vowel and add -esimo at the end of it.
Ex. 13 tredici —> tredic-esimo —> tredicesimo
25 ventisei —> venticinquesimo
If the number end with the -trè and -sei you have to keep the last vowel and add -esimo
ex. 26 ventisei —> ventisei-esimo —> ventiseiesimo
Ordinal number have to follow the same gender and number of the word they are associated with.
ex. ( sing. ) Primo giorno — ( pl. ) primi giorni
( sing. ) Prima nevicata — ( pl. ) prime nevicate

Italian ordinal number precede the noun in a phrase.
To indicate the number of a pope or a king or a ruler of a kingdom , in Italian we have to omit the definite article before the ordinal number.
ex. Leone X ( Leone decimo ) —> Leone the tenth
In other situation the use od the ordinal numbers is similar to the one in English.
In Italian to refer to a century from the 13th century onward in subject like literature , art or history , you have to use this forms :
Il Duecento —> il tredicesimo secolo —> the 13th century
Il Trecento —> il quattordicesimo secolo —> the 14th century
Il Quattrocento —> il quindicesimo secolo —> the 15th century
Il Cinquecento —> il sedicesimo secolo —> the 16th century
Il Seicento —> il diciassettesimo secolo —> the 17th century
Il Settecento —> il diciottesimo secolo —> the 18th century
L’ Ottocento —> il diciannovesimo secolo —> the 19th century
Il Novecento —> il ventesimo secolo —> the 20th century
Il Duemila —> il ventunesimo secolo —> the 21st century
